A "While You Were Out" Happy Birthday

So last weekend Corey had my sisters keep me out of the house for about 2 days. It started with a sleepover that started Friday morning and lasted thru saturday afternoon. I had fun with my sisters and mom but come saturday morning I thought I'd better get home since I had abandoned Corey all Friday. But to my surprise I was not allowed to go home. I thought Corey realized what my sisters were doing so I called him to tell him I wasn't coming home (probably much to his relief) and spent the rest of Saturday with them. About 6 pm I finally headed home and when I got there, much to my surprise, I found out it was Corey who had wanted me out of the house and my sisters were just dilligently trying to keep me occupied as I kept mentioning that I'd probably better go home to my poor neglected husband. haha Little did I know this is what he'd been up to...

I learned he had made the bedspread himself (we'd been shopping for a few months and I could never find anything I really liked or that we both could live with) so he took it upon himself to make the perfect bedspread (and it is--I love it) all the way down to the bedskirt. He also painted the room, the walls were white before, the headboard/footboard & even the nightstand, which I don't think you can see. It was a very big surprise and a wonderful birthday. Thanks so much Corey! You're the best.

Ace of ...

Yep, apparently Corey's been watching too much Ace of Cakes or The Ultimate Cake-off (or something). Last week he decided to model our house out of, yep, Cake. As he went along he decided that it really does take a lot of work, thus said, several details about the house (such as a porch light) did not make it in the final draft. All-in-all I think he did a great job, although I think this might be his first & last cake.

Megan's Summer Update

ALASKA!!! It was a great trip, if you've read Sabrina's blog she's already updated you, but as for me.... I'm slow. After vacationing around the state we played at Sabrina's house for a while. Some fun adventures followed, like painting the babies room with sponges, dumping a big jar of pickles after walking through the woods and across the road into a ditch and getting passed by a car right after we were trying to hid the evidence!, shopping in Fairbanks and playing in Delta Junction. We went on a long bike ride for mutual and Sabrina whipped me, she thought I was just a slow peddler until she tried riding the bike I rode the day after and realized how hard I had to work to keep up with her! We celebrated our 25th birthday over Root-beer floats and some presents. It was a great vacation and we both cried at the airport when we had to say goodbye. I cried the whole way back to SLC on my 3 red eye flights!

Getting back to Idaho was great, I was able to get my classroom put together, see some friends and someone special. Infact, I went to Bambino's one night to get some Bambino's (the restaurant the bf is General Manager of) to save in the freezer for when I need an emergency lunch... Greg rang me up and gave me a great deal. :) Then I got home and opened my box. All the Bambino's were in there, but my name was written on the top of the box, no clue why so I had to read and...

Greg left me a note inside the box! It says MEGAN IS PRETTY! Totally made my day!

School started and I wasn't nervous or excited that much but it has been a great year. Teralee came up to see me right before I had to go back and we had so much fun and stayed up too late for such an old lady, me. Volleyball has been so much fun, I was nervous about this team bc we seemed to clash last year. But this year we all got along and had a great time and worked hard. We played Districts on Saturday and for the first time in school history, 8th grade WON districts!! It was a great thing to be a part of and we all got medals. My team also bought me some flowers which was fun. I am excited about this school year and what else it might bring!!

Megan in Alaska

I thought that I had better split this post into two different notes. This one will be the Alaska adventures from camping, then my second when I get back to 'the lower 48' will be the rest of the trip! I started my journey by arriving at my mom's house in Sandy at 2:20am Thursday morning and waking up at 5:30 to get to the airport on time and catch my plane. Since Alaska is practically a different country, they don't fly here often. I had a 5-hour layover in Seattle, which I slept and played on my computer for the time. I arrived in Fairbanks at 4 local time. Robert picked me up from Fairbanks airport and took me to the hospital to get Sabrina bc she was having a baby check-up. We grabbed lunch at the local Subway and we were off to Denali National Park!!

We camped one night at Denali and saw a lynx, bunch of birds and squirrels that wanted to eat out of our tent, a rabbit that was trying to camp in our fire pit, and most of all, bear prints on the bathroom wall!! We didn’t see a bear but we went on a couple of fun hikes before we left town. We also got to see the big hotel that Desaray worked in for a summer! We took the time to stop for pictures and see every free tourist center we could! I had a hard time knowing when to sleep because the sun never went down. That is a new experience. The longer I'm here the more I'm learning, you just go to sleep. But the sun is starting to go down about midnight for a couple of hours so it's helping.

After Denali we went to Anchorage and stayed with Robert’s great-uncle Merlen. They were really nice and it was great to be able to take a shower and not use an outhouse! Which we realized there was real toilets right beside our campground right before we left. We had been walking up the road to outhouses! Ha-ha, that was bittersweet. Anchorage was great, we hiked tabletop the first night and it was sure cold and windy!! At the top of Tabletop you can see the whole valley and ocean. It was a neat sight.

Off to Seward! We stopped at every touristy picture stop we could while driving the Beast, big red truck. Some were really neat and others were cold… okay let’s face it; I’ve been cold pretty much the whole time I’ve been here. Blasted lower 48 ha-ha. We camped at the Seward Military Resort. It was quite the feat finding our assigned tent spot but we did and we loved camping there! It didn’t stop raining hardly at all but we had access keys to a really nice bathroom with showers and hot water!! We toured Seward and Robert and Sabrina went fishing for a while so I played on my phone. I’ve never been fishing at a license for 3 days is 35 dollars, so I watched. Robert caught a big dogfish! Sabrina has pictures on her site of that. Robert took us driving around just looking at scenery, which was great because we happened upon fjords National Park, which had a glacier, Exit glacier, that we hiked to and did some exploring. We got to get up close to a couple of glaciers on our trip, that was
really neat!! We also went on a boat tour of the Alaska Gulf. We saw a lot of birds, sea lions, some otters, but no whales or orkas. We were a little bummed about it but we had fun.

After a couple of days camping we decided to head home. Robert drove us straight through the night and made a deal that he would if, and only if, Sabrina and I stayed awake with him. I lost badly…. But he stayed awake and kept driving! We had so much fun playing and touring Alaska! Now it’s to experience what Sabrina’s life is like up here in the Last Frontier.

This last photo was the middle of the night, all of that sunlight!!

Wedding Day

Finally....here are some photos of our wedding day, I know it's been almost 2 months. Although at first I was a little sad about the rain it actually turned out it made for some great pics. As a side note, these are photos a friend took as we've just barely made our order with the photographer but you'll get the idea. :o)

Pat's BBQ

Another of Guy Fieri's DINER'S, DRIVE-INS, and DIVE'S

Monday night for FHE we went to Pat's BBQ in downtown SLC. It was a fun atmosphere and we sat at picnic tables inside so that baby Graham wouldn't get cold. It was a fun treck and Camarae couldn't get enough of her ice water!

Over-all Pat's BBQ was good, but I wouldn't go again. Decent enough though, it was yummy just pricy. haha, cheap-o me.

Moochie's Meatballs

Our second restaurant on Guy Fieri's Diners Drive-in's and Dives is Moochie's Meatballs! We had a lot of fun finding it and going into the little yellow building to order our sandwiches. We ate outside the shop bc it was small so we had an even greater time getting Camarae to sit with us and not run into the street!

A few pictures of the Wedding

I know Desaray and Corey are still rendezvousing in Hawaii, so I thought I would post a few pictures for everyone while they wait for Desaray to make her official FIRST MARRIED POST! :) YAY! The wedding was great fun and looked amazing!

A Collage

This post is well over a month past due. About the first weekend of February Corey and I decided to try out a new recipe for BBQ Chicken Pizza (thanks Kimberly). It turned out very well and we wanted to share our success. Mmm, doesn't that look good? Corey did an excellent job assembling the pizza. And the final product was delicious.

So, as I was saying, this has taken me over a month to post. We made the pizza on a friday and that sunday I wanted to post our weekend success story but Corey so kindly informed me that he didn't want to spend the rest of his Sunday night blogging (it was about 9 pm). So I asked him what he'd rather do and he just responded, I don't know but I don't want to blog. So I put my computer away and almost promptly he pulled me to my feet and started dancing with me in the living room. I thought to myself, oh okay, so he wants to dance? Hmmm... We danced for a about a minute when we had the following conversation:
Me: I'm tired can we sit down now?
Corey: No
Me: Uh okay...? (apparently he wants to dance)
Corey: Want to know how I love you?
Me: Uh huh, sure (I used to always ask him this question so of course I was interested in the answer). Corey proceeds to tell me some sweet things and then tells me that he wrote a poem in his head the other day but he can't remember really what it said except...(back to the dialogue)
Corey: the part that I can remember says I'd walk all night to get to you and at the end of the poem there was a question.
Me: oh yeah, what was the question?
Corey: (dropping to one knee) Will you marry me?
Me: YES! (and then I see the ring he's holding up) Is this real?
I'm not sure if he laughed at me, probably, but he had just completely caught me by surprise...I had no idea he had a ring. To say the least, it was completely unexpected. It was unexpected for him as well, apparently he had something completely different in his mind and had some other plan but that ring must have been burning a whole in his pocket and he didn't know what else to do but give it to me as soon as possible ;o)

We celebrated Monday night. I came home to table full of flowers and a shoveled driveway (it snowed that day). And then he took me to this neat little restaurant that seemed like you'd stepped back in time to the days of castles, kings and seven course meals. It was some good food! Not to mention great company...Love you Corey!

Oh and for those of you who wanted to see my ring, I hope this picture will work...if not you'll just have to come and see me personally :o)

BURGER BAR

I went home last weekend and we decided to hit one of the 5 places on Guys show. The only place we could hit was Burger Bar. It was good, the fries and the super great shake! I however would say hold off on the burger, not worth it! I'll keep you posted on the other places we go to!

Snowshoes

This past weekend one of my good friends, Ryanne, came down from Logan to spend Friday and a little bit of Saturday. As always, we had a good time eating out at the Olive Garden, going to see Bride Wars and just visiting 'til all hours of the night. Saturday morning we decided to drive up Ogden canyon and do a little snowshoeing. This was Ryanne's first time...it was fun and she says she'd do it again. Corey also came and at one point he and I climbed this very steep hill, unfortunately you can really tell that's where we are but it was up there and then we slid down...oh the adventures we have. :o) And Ryanne, thanks for coming down, it's always good to have you visit!

Way to a Girl's Heart: Thru her feet?

Clue 1 - Shorts or pants that could be rolled comfortably to the knees. Clue 2 - I was booked on January 9th for an "appointment". The rest remained a mystery. What was Corey planning?? I couldn't figure out what this mystery activity was....until one day Corey told me that he had to change the appointment. Ah, now the pieces started coming together...I could only guess at what this mystery could be - until the day before when he confirmed what I thought - and boy was I right! A pedicure! My feet are now pampered and ready to live the good life...where's the beach or that cruise ship?? My cute pink toes (with snowflakes) are ready to go! Anyhow, enjoy the pics because this has got to be one of the coolest dates ever! Can you top that?
