Happy Valentine's

Sometimes I think I'm a little bit spoiled...I woke up last tuesday to find that Corey was already up and in the kitchen. I rescued a crying girl and went into the kitchen to find Corey sitting at the table, huh, what is he doing I wondered. And this is what I saw...

(minus the popcorn bowl & picture frame). Instead of buying me flowers he made me flowers out of my new favorite M&M's (dark chocolate & coconut). How clever I must say...and then sitting next to it was a tablet of sorts--a Nook Color to be exact. Now, keep in mind I don't have any of the new gadgets...ie smart phone, e-reader, ipod, etc. Needless to say, I have loved it and just about can't put it down. I've already read one book on it and have many more downloaded. I've also rediscovered Sukoku--so fun. See, spoiled. Who wouldn't love M&M flowers and a Nook?

Poor Corey, he's not nearly as spoiled. All he got was a popcorn bownl, some candy bars, a picture frame for a pic he's been wanting to put on his desk & some homemade cinnamon rolls (which are not pictured). Maybe one of these days I'll be on par with him. Thanks honey, I love you!

Happy Birthday

Last week we had a Birthday party for a little lady who just turned One! It was lots of fun. I made a cake I found on Pinterest and thought it turned out pretty colorful, as was the goal. Here are some pics of the cake, party and a video of the birthday girl eating her cake. She must have really enjoyed it because when I took the cake away to slice it up she began to holler. :o)

PS Video to come later, if I can get it to upload...

Sunny California

The other week we boarded a plane and headed to Burbank where we were met by a dear old friend from college. We spent a couple of days at her house and enjoyed a few fun days visiting. The first day we just hung out, took a walk up a large hill by her house (I felt it for days afterwards), went to dinner, and played The Redneck game of Life. (the title may have been slightly different but you get the idea)

The next day we woke up and realized it had been raining during the night and apparently there were chances of showers through out the day. Despite the forecast we decided to take our chances and venture to Disneyland. We arrived around noon and lucky for us didn't see another drop of rain the rest of the day. We had fun taking Noelle on the kids rides (which was just about all I could ride as well). I think Dumbo was Noelle's favorite ride as she laughed a few despite falling on her face just before and getting a bloody nose.

Miranda said the lines were really short that day, good thing we decided to chance the weather. We didn't leave 'til after 10 pm -- Noelle was such a trooper and fell asleep in her stroller around bedtime and slept the rest of the night.

-Playing while we wait in line for the "Finding Nemo" ride

Our last day in CA we decided to visit Griffith Park and tour the train 'museum'. There were lots of old train cars you could climb into and look around. We had fun walking around and were even able to take a ride on a small train around the park.

For dinner we decided to try a 'Dinners, Drive-in and Dives' featured restaurant that was pretty close to the park. We didn't know much about but knew it couldn't be horrible. We arrived and found out that it was Cuban food. We all enjoyed our meals--glad we went. Thanks TJ for the catalog of DDD restaurants. Once we arrived back home Miranda made us some delicious cookies, Corey & Joe watched SF lose :o(, and then we played a version of Settlers which I actually thought was alright. Shh, don't tell Corey I said that.

Finally it was time for us to head home. The morning we left it was pouring rain--lucky for us it stayed away just long enough.

Thanks to Mirand and Joe for a fun weekend in the sun away from the winter storms of home.

New Resolve

...or goal whichever. However, I've decided that I need to update my blog more often, therefore, I've made it a goal to make a new post at least one a month. That's only 12 posts, do-able right? Here we go.
