FHE

For our FHE tonight we decided we wanted to make some homemade ice cream. We've had our ice cream maker for over a year and this was the first time that we've actually made ice cream with it. We tried another time before but the store was all out of rock salt.

While it was storming outside Camarae and I went to the store to get some items to be able to make our ice cream. I was driving the taurus so the ride home was interesting so say the least. Driving while not be able to see out the windshield while it is raining makes for an interesting time.

Anyway, the flavor that we made was cookies and cream so I bought the off-brand oreo cookies. We made the ice cream mix and then broke up some cookies and put them into the mix. Camarae was interested in the whole making process so I got some pictures of her watching what was going on. She really liked the ice cream maker when it was plugged in and mixing the ice cream, it was noisy so that is why it had her attention.

After Camarae was in bed and dinner was all cleaned up Matt and I had a taste of our ice cream creation. Do you like how dark the ice cream turned out? It is almost black in color. The ice cream was really yummy! We will have to make it again and try some other flavors. Yay for ice cream!

Hail Storm

Last weekend it was raining and then it turned into hail. We thought that we would take some pictures because of the site that the hail gave the yard. I also went outside to get some hail to show the size of it. Don't worry I did it after the rain and hail had quit. I didn't want to get pelted by the hail.

Calzones

A couple of weeks ago Matt and I made some calzones. It was a lot of fun. From the pictures can you tell who was the better calzone maker? The calzones were really good and we enjoyed watching a movie afterwards.

The Windy City (it's no joke)

I think we're going for some kind of record here...I believe this makes the 10th post this month! Last night I returned from the great city of Chicago where we endured cold temps, freezing winds and some rain/snow. There were a few sunny days but it was still chilly. Becca and I had fun exploring downtown and dragging Brad around the city after he had finished with classes. One of my favorite things was the famous stuffed Chicago pizza. Yum, it was sooo good. (sorry for the scary picture but you just had to see this thing) I probably would have been content with eating there every night but I'm glad we didn't cause we would have missed out on the Chinese restaurant that also sells wedding cakes and closes at 7:30 pm because they all have to go home in one car...huh? It was really good food though & dirt cheap. In Millenium Park there is a scuplture that looks like a large jelly bean, thus it is affectionately called "the bean". It was designed to reflect the skyline & the reflection of people in the sculpture signifys how we affect and change this city. Look closley, you can see Becca & me in the bean. We also ventured to the observation floor of the Sears Tower. That was neat to see Chicago with a bird's eye view...that part of Illinois is so flat, you can see for miles. We also got to see all of the major leauge sports stadiums way up there & Lake Michigan looked like it could be the ocean. We also ventured out to Navy Pier but decided it was definitely more of a summer attraction but at least we can now say we've been there. My word of caution for those planning on visiting the windy city is 1. go during the summer and 2. plan on lots of shopping. It was a great trip, fabulous company--glad I was invited along--Thanks Becca and Brad.
